Strøm is a festival in Copenhagen for electronic music, hosting in 2011 its fifth edition. Actually, Strøm is not a traditional festival, but rather a selection of the best and strongest purveyors of electronic music on the Copenhagen event scene, which has evolved heavily over the last years; Strøm is funded by the city and supported by both the City and the Region to promote electronic music- and underground and to broadcast it to the masses.
History:
Strøm was established in 2007 in a cooperation between a number of the strongest and most important names in the Danish electronic world, and as for the booking of artists, Strøm collects some of the most progressive eventmakers, dj’s and bookers in Copenhagen at the moment. Mission:
Strøm is an annually recurrent and growing electronic event and playground, aiming to be among the most important electronic music events in Northern Europe.
The ambition is to make electronic music accessible for everybody, not just the people raving at the clubs every weekend but also the curious crowd; Strøm wishes to give some extraordinary crazy, beautiful, mindblowing and just nice musical experiences to people who might never thought it possible.
Strøm is about expanding horizons, making people feel courageous enough to dare something new somewhere new with somebody new because of something new(!). In other words, Strøm is about exposing and promoting the growing underground of electronic music, both national and international. We aim to make the good and interesting musical experience as broad and accessible as possible, thus a lot of it, including the two main stages, are free of charge and the festival itself makes no money.
